IGB has established and developed mutual cooperation with gene banks from various countries and international institutions engaged in biodiversity research and conservation such as IPGRI , the Commission of Plant Genetic Resources of the FAO and the European Cooperative Programme for Crop Genetic Resources ( ECP/GR )

As a member in the ECP/GR, Israel participates in four Networks: Cereal Network, Vegetables, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Network, Documentation and Information Network, and In-situ and On-farm Conservation Network. The activities of these Networks are implemented by Working Group and Task Forces. Israel plays an active role in Working Groups dealing with Barley, Forages, Grain Legumes, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Prunus, Vitis and Wheat and in Wild Species Conservation in Genetic Reserves and Inter-regional Cooperation Task Forces.
The IGB is responsible for the maintenance of the European Central Trifolium alexandrinum and Trifolium resupinatum database, under the initiative of the European Cooperative Program for Crop Genetic Resources Networks (ECP/GR). Both Trifolium species originate from the Eastern Mediterranean and are utilized for hay or pasture. T. alexandrinum L. is also known as Berseem or Egyptian clover, and T. resupinatum as Persian clover. The database includes cultivars and wild accessions of the two species which are kept by several European Gene Banks and research institutes.
