The holdings of the seed bank and the living collections at the Documentation Center are tabulated according the general guidelines of FAO/IPGRI Multicrop Passport Descriptors. The database is supported by a set of data that specify the sampling methods and another set that provides details on the provenance of the collection and the structure of its source population. In addition, we plan to construct a database that provides background data on each species represented in the collections. This database will include scientific literature pertaining to the species, agronomic information, data on reproductive biology, resistance to pests, diseases, biotic and abiotic stresses, data derived from the geographical information system (GIS), and lists of seed banks in which the species is maintained.
As mentioned, germplasm collections held by other Israeli institutions are also being tabulated by the IGB.
